It seems to me, there'll never be
So great a love as you and me.
When souls like ours have overlapped,
Our love in gravity is wrapped.
We pull away, but just so much,
Until our limbs no longer touch,
Like two great oaks which span the street
In Spring & Fall our roots still meet.
Our oneness can not be denied,
Nor can two stars apart be pried,
Attraction is inexorable
No matter how you push and pull,
No force can break so strong a bond,
Nor time, nor anything beyond
Our End.
But what, you ask, inspires me so?
Why is our love to grow and grow?
I love your peaceful look in sleep,
Whilst mind and body slumber keep.
I love the way we wake each morn,
To touch, hold, kiss before the dawn.
I love your air, and beauty deep,
Your manner, and the way you
Keep me wanting more.
This is why I'm by your side,
This is how things are.
